Bulk transfer moves several serialized units to a different inventory hub in one action. When you load a van for the day or shift stock out of the warehouse, you scan each unit onto a single transfer list and send the whole list to the destination hub at once.

Overview

Bulk transfer is the faster route for a move you can also make one unit at a time. Relocating a single serialized unit means scanning its barcode, selecting transfer, choosing the destination hub, and confirming the transfer — repeated for every product, which gets tedious across hundreds of items. Bulk transfer collapses that into one pass: scan several units onto a transfer list, then move all of them to the destination hub together. Fewer repeated entries also means fewer chances for a manual entry error.

Before you begin

  • Confirm the units are already set up as serialized inventory. Serialized tracking applies only to line items with the Item Type Product - Inventory, with Track by Serialized Inventory turned on and a serial number saved for each unit — see Serialized Inventory Overview.
  • Set up the hub the units are moving to. A hub is the workshop, truck, van, office, or warehouse where inventory is stored — see Inventory Hubs Overview.
  • Have the units in front of you so you can scan each barcode.
  • Check the user’s inventory access. Admin permissions cannot be edited because Admins have full system access, Team Manager and Service Agent permissions can be edited, and inventory permissions are not available for Limited Agents — see Setting Up Inventory Permissions.

Bulk transfer serialized units

  1. Scan the first unit. Scan the barcode of a serialized unit you want to move. The unit is added to a transfer list rather than transferred on its own.
  2. Scan the rest of the units. Keep scanning until every unit you are moving is on the transfer list.
  3. Choose the destination hub. Select the hub the units are moving to — the bin, truck, or warehouse where they will now be stored.
  4. Confirm the transfer. Confirming moves every unit on the transfer list to the destination hub at once.

Does bulk transfer change how many units I have?

Bulk transfer moves serialized units from one inventory hub to another rather than adding or removing units. To change how much stock a hub holds, adjust the quantities on the line item — see Inventory Hubs Overview.

Can I bulk transfer items that are not tracked by serial number?

Bulk transfer works on serialized units, which carry the individual serial numbers you scan. To move quantities of non-serialized stock between hubs, open the line item and reallocate the quantities between locations — see Inventory Hubs Overview. Your bulk transfer worked when every serial number you scanned appears under the destination hub on the line item.
